FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a listing of frequently asked questions. They are grouped by service.

GitLab

Q: What is GitLab?

A: GitLab is the platform we use for version control, otherwise called configuration management. We set it up as a method to track issues and comments regarding a product, as well as to better conduct betas.

Q: How do I add projects or create groups on GitLab?

A: Please ask @nguyenkvvn or @BoostWillis on RocketChat. While GitLab is open to any DD user to participate (i.e, comment, report issues, participate in betas), only approved developers are able to create repositories.

GitLab Pages

Q: What are GitLab Pages?

A: They're basically static websites hosted off of our GitLab server.

Q: How do I create a webpage for my project?

A: See this guide: https://gitlab.deterrencedispensed.com/deterrence-dispensed/information-and-tutorials/-/wikis/For-Developers/How-to-create-a-static-webpage-with-GitLab-Pages

Q: Are GitLab Pages public?

A: Yes, the pages you create are public facing and are visible to the entire world.

RocketChat

Q: What is RocketChat?

A: RocketChat is our replacement for Keybase after they purged all 3D printed content. It's our forum for us and our users to mingle, get help, and share their creations.

Q: Is RocketChat secure? Is it end-to-end encrypted?

A: RocketChat is NOT end-to-end encrypted. Don't share anything in RocketChat you are not willing to send over a text message.
